At pains not to offend their Albanian hosts, one must read a bit between the lines from the author to discover that both of the churches have to be kept under constant armed guard to protect them from destruction.
Back in March of 2007, Muslim Albanians fired an anti-tank mortar grenade that luckily lodged in the roof and did not explode. Since 1999, this was the 23rd time that High Decani had been targeted with mortars.
